Easiest Way to Cook Beef Tenderloin Steaks on the Stove
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Make sure you do these 5 things, all the same: one. Use "Condensed Gold Mushroom" soup. The regular Foam of Mushroom doesn't take the larger pieces of mushrooms. ii. Substitute 1/4 cup beefiness broth for 1/4 water. 3. Utilise four oz. sour foam instead of foam cheese. 4. Add ane/2 t. pepper for a tiny niggling (just necessary) kick. 4. Only before calculation the sour cream, mix ane T. corn starch with 2 T. cold water, then add this mixture to stroganoff. This gives it the necessary extra thickness. Then, enjoy this FABULOUSLY delicious and simple to make dish!

Wow! For my husband and I to agree that a dish is worthy of v stars is very rare. This was a cracking comfort food dinner, perfect after a very long day, so easy to make. And I accept never made homemade stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on here (give thanks you!). To do what Jillybean did, and salve others some time, hither is what all these reviews say to do: i)Add some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water only go on worchestshire and foam cheese the aforementioned. 4)Add 1/2 package onion soup mix to mixture. five)Melt on LOW only for five hours. 6) Add a dollop of sour cream also when calculation cream cheese. 7) Add together sauteed fresh mushrooms (about 4-six oz) 1/two hr earlier serving. eight) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my husband, who is a big fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will make this often.

I think I've institute my new favorite condolement food. This was really adept. I used ii pounds of circular steak (simply don't like stew meat), 2 cans of golden mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavour), and 1/2 cup water (I like gravy). To help the cream cheese melt easier, cube and soften information technology before adding. I similar the thought of using foam cheese rather than the traditional sour cream because if you lot're lucky enough to have leftvovers, information technology reheats nicer than sour foam. I tin't wait to make it again!
03/05/2010
Information technology actually irks me when i come on here to become a good recipe with a good rating and people's reviews are all nearly the changes they made. I dont have time to read everyones reviews with all the changes to make this recipe "better'. Rate the recipes as is and if yous have modifications or change then post a new recipe!!!!!!!

five stars for a cracking easy recipe for the busy on-the-become parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added 1/2 tsp of fresh minced garlic, 1/2 package of dry Italian-style salad dressing and one/ii bundle of Lipton'southward dry onion/ beefy/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff extra flavor complexity. Subbed depression sodium beef broth for the h2o, and low sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms 1/2 60 minutes prior to the finish and stirred in sour cream to sense of taste prior to serving! Helpful hint: Check the intensity of your crockpot equally some are "hotter" than others and you lot may non demand to cook the stroganoff the full 8 hours equally the recipe lists. Cheers Jessica - nifty recipe!

This tastes really proficient, simply I establish that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which absorb a LOT of moisture), I increased the water to a full cup and still would accept been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the flavor enough to give this another endeavour - this fourth dimension no mushrooms and with a full soup can of water. I also think I'll use traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very good, but I call back the texture of the sour cream will suit my tastes ameliorate. That's the beauty of this recipe - information technology'due south a great place to accept off & tinker to your preferences!

Thanks! THANK You! Thanks! My husband is the pickiest eater there is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my husband's favorite since he was a lilliputian boy. I hated making it merely did for him, till last night, I put my foot down and told I wanted to effort this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did non really think he would like information technology. He ate a HUGE bowl at dinner, then pulled out the leftovers shortly before going to bed and ate Some other HUGE Basin. He told me he like this more than his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I keep the meat(1 lb.), worcestershire(one tbls.), and cream cheese(4 oz) the same. I doubled the soup(two cans) and water(1/2 cup).I omitted the onions (husband hates them) only I did add half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thank you so much for this recipe. I am sure I volition be making this for a LONG fourth dimension.
xi/09/2002
Awesome over egg noodles. Supervene upon the h2o with sherry and substitute one package onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
11/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to accept found this recipe. My husband loves when I make stroganoff, only I hate all the piece of work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, as well as the onion soup parcel. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the finish of cooking - I had a very happy husband! Thanks for the EASY and succulent recipe!
09/15/2006
I absolutely loved this recipe! It was soooo easy, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I have used (I've used one recipe that called for sour cream, foam cheese, and cream soup.........chock-full arteries!!!) I took the communication of some other reviews and I added a packet of dried onion soup mix. When I added the cream cheese at the terminate, I also threw in two handfuls of fresh mushrooms. It was the perfect bear on. I volition be adding this recipe to my permanent collection!!
01/02/2011
I made this for the first time final night and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: ii pounds cubed sirloin steak two cans golden mushroom soup 1 big chopped onion 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 pound sliced mushrooms 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup beef broth one pack onion soup mix 4 ounces cream cheese, softened. 4 ounces sour cream All but cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for 6 hours, served over noodles and it was OMG Good! Cheers for sharing
01/27/2009
I am only giving this 4 stars since I did accept the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a bit. Instead of using a ho-hum cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on top of the stove and information technology turned out really skillful. I served information technology over egg noodles, but my family unit likes it on rice better. I love the improver of the cream cheese instead of sour foam, as well! Instead of buying exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cutting it up myself. ***Update: I made this again and didn't add the cream cheese due to non having whatsoever. It was still delicious. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
10/26/2011
Jessica, thank you for posting this fantastic base of operations recipe, I similar many others did not follow it to the letter, but without your recipe wouldnt have tried it at all! I give this five stars considering your base recipe is the cornerstone of information technology all! I always read the reviews of whatever recipe I am going to try, and then make my own changes accordingly. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to utilise upwardly and make tender, and this fit the bill...I sliced some onions thick and layered them kickoff, and so I cut up the cube steak, didnt chocolate-brown or flour it at all....put in half a pack of beefy onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, cup of water, two cans of gold mushroom soup (we like a thick gravy here, lol) and nigh a heaping teaspoon of ground pepper....let that all simmer in the crock pot for about 5 hours...so added about viii oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...let it cook on depression another hr...and then added one-half a bar of low fat cream cheese so 8oz of sour cream...served over wide egg noodles and it was a HUGE hit in my household of three...made enough that we had it again last night and it tasted even better! Peachy utilise for cube steak btw, a adept inexpensive option...Thanks over again Jessica, this will be a staple in my house this winter!
03/03/2009
And then many reviewers said follow jillybean14's suggestions - I finally establish her on page 45. To help out, here is what she suggests: (1) add salt, pepper and garlic, (two)double the sauce but continue the cream cheese and worchestershire the same, (three) use Gold Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-half dozen hrs. on low (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (6) add a boullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles (9) add together sauteed mushrooms, about 1/ii an hour before serving.
09/05/2002
Great recipe! I did alter it a little flake. I used a circular steak and coated it with flour and browned information technology before I put it in the crock pot. I besides added a can of beefiness broth to the mix and used the whole brick of foam cheese. Turns out great every fourth dimension!
06/26/2007
Married man's offset words were..."This is awesome." This turned out nifty and was super easy. Perfect for a cold winter evening or company! However I did add a few things and made a few simple changes afterward looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. 1 can of gold mushroom soup and half tin of cream of mushroom, whole package of fresh sliced mushrooms, 3 sliced light-green onions and half a chopped yellow onion. i tin can of beef broth instead of whatsoever water. I seasoned the cubed stew beef with seasoning salt ( and if you cook information technology on low for 6-8 hours it does NOT toughen upwards, ours was sooo tender! So relieve a few bucks and get the stew meat!). Cooked on low for 6 hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would actually add more mushrooms next time. The last hr I put in 8 oz of low fat sour cream and three heaping tablespoons of nonfat foam cheese. I then took 1 tbls of corn starch (you could use flour) and mixed it with milk to thicken the sauce. It was pretty thick already so I would only add together it if you similar a thicker sauce. Putting the foam cheese in the last hour gave it plenty of fourth dimension to combine and cook down so information technology was not chunky. Perfection!!
04/xvi/2012
I fabricated a lot of changes based on reviews. I use following: 2 lbs stew meat, two cans golden cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, two cloves garlic minced, 1 beef bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, 1 pkt onion soup mix, 1/2 c.-ish beef broth, sliced mushrooms, & 4 oz. foam cheese. Cook 8 hours on low and add cream cheese most 30-lx minutes before serving. I've made this dozens of times and I no longer mensurate and it e'er turns out great. Since there is only two of united states and I don't want left overs I use 1 lb stew meat, 1 can golden mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for 5-half-dozen hours and everything else the same and it'southward still skilful.
05/21/2012
Always on the lookout for sure-fire slow cooker meals and this was great, and so thanks Jessica and also JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly's modifications.) Received compliments all around for this. Definitely a keeper to brand again, nice comfort fare.
01/12/2011
My married man thought it to be a bit bland as far as flavor goes, but I simply added some more Worcestershire sauce to the dish once it was done and it tasted a lot better, other than that I just used sour cream instead of cream cheese and this dish was super yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely get in again!
xi/01/2005
Wow! Just delicious! We will for sure make this again and again. I did all the alterations recommended past other reviewers though. 2 lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, ane/2 cup beef goop instead of h2o, added salt, pepper and garlic pulverisation, 1/2 packet onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at end and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low five hrs. It was to DIE for! Nosotros served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also neat warmed upward the side by side day!
09/06/2010
And I take never made homemade stroganoff earlier! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'due south review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on hither (thank you!). To do what Jillybean did, and save others some fourth dimension, here is what all these reviews say to practise: i)Add some table salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but keep worchestshire and cream cheese the same. four)Add together 1/ii packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Cook on Low only for v hours. half dozen) Add together a dollop of sour cream likewise when calculation cream cheese. 7) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (near 4-6 oz) 1/two 60 minutes before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I found this recipe v years agone and merely now deciding I should add my two cents - I like to think I've perfected it, somewhat. For the more picky cook, information technology helps to brownish your beef. No need to, only it definitely brings out more than flavor. We're two guys so ane pound of beefiness merely doesn't cut it for wanting to have this for dinner for a few nights, so I sometimes double or triple the recipe, especially if we're having company. I toss in a flake more extra worcestershire sauce, like about i tablespoon actress. I've spent quite a bit of time in Russian federation and tin tell you this footling recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) As others have said, a cube of beef bouillon doesn't injure only if you think it needs more than seasoning, become for information technology! I always add a touch of Cajun seasoning to spice it upwards a bit, but I accept Cajun roots so, that's simply me. Finally, I ALWAYS add together mushrooms most the end. Have an 8oz or more pack of baby bellas, slices em up, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, then set aside. In the last hour or two of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, you gotta practice this. It adds the authentic stroganoff sense of taste and texture and jacks up the recipe a bit if you're feeding a hungry family. Excellent recipe - this recipe is the reason I've become a tiresome cooker guy and I'd love to meet the person who posted it and milkshake their hands or requite 'em a hug. It's only that good!!
12/01/2011
See JillyBean14's Review which I copied here: I read nearly all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To salve everyone else some time, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and information technology came out peachy): (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (two) double the sauce only keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Golden Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-half dozen hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when you add together the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (6) add together a bullion cube, (7) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hr before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted others and I think it helped. Great slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Repast then just boiled the handbag to reheat. Information technology was not bad the 2d fourth dimension around! The simply affair I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - tin't stand up it. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend it!!
11/12/2005
I cannot believe this is v stars. My husband and I did not similar this at all. I accept been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family unit and friends to exist an awesome cook, so I was a little embarrassed when hubby asked me not to make this once more.
02/27/2007
I made this using the verbal recipe. Considering of my work schedule mine ended up cooking on low for about ten hours. My merely regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Next fourth dimension I'll saute them a bit start. The ingredients were simple, and nosotros liked the end result. We'll definately be making this over again!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a good basic recipe. I double the recipe. Used half golden mushroom and half roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup. Added 1 package beefy onion soup mix. Also added some cooking sherry (1/4 cup). An hour or so before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (almost 1.5 cups).
ten/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some extra mushrooms and more meat. I used the aureate mushroom soup and likewise added a can of beefy mushroom soup and eliminated the suggestion of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did not use Cream Cheese as I don't care for the cream cheese season in casseroles - information technology just seems to overpower everything else. I used most a loving cup of sour cream as I had a lot of sauce. If I were to make it again, I'd probably not apply the 2nd tin of soup as there was only so much sauce. That said, hubby and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably go far once again with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is really proficient As LONG AS Y'all MAKE THE Post-obit CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to be made. These are her changes) 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat 2 cans golden mushroom soup 1/ii cup chopped onion 1/2 packet of dry onion soup mix 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup water iv ounces cream cheese spoonful of sour cream Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add together a bit of table salt, pepper & garlic to the pot forth with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour cream at the same time you stir in foam cheese. my 4 yr old and 2 yr old couldn't become enough of this. I served it over wide-cut egg noodles. It was done in exactly 5 hours on low. I volition definitely make this once again. recollect - don't sub the gilded mushroom soup. information technology has to be golden mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely bland, and the cream cheese left piffling chunks because of combining it with heat (didn't consider at the time).
eleven/14/2006
I'thou not sure what went wrong, but mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else have this problem????
01/18/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine but it lacks seasoning. I added 1 TBL extra worstershire, 1/iii loving cup white vino, i TBL dijon mustard, .five TSP dried dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, salt and pepper, 1 tin drained mushrooms. I also substituted light sour cream for cream cheese. It was excellent.
11/07/2010
Awesome. I like uncomplicated recipes with a lot of leftovers, so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, 3 cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz cream cheese, 1/4 cup sour foam, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a tin can of french onion soup. This likewise eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on high and went to work for v hours. Came back afterward, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super easy, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this adding 8 oz. of mushrooms,a cup of carmine wine and 2 tbsp. of beef bullion. I seared the meat, browning it but not fully cooking it. Best stroganoff we've ever had.
08/xx/2005
Amazing, this is so absolutely wonderful, very easy. The cream cheese was lumpy though, adjacent time I will take out some sauce and whisk the cream cheese into that and then add to the mixture. I also added 2tbsp of sour foam, sauteed mushrooms, salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if y'all are making this for four or more adults. Cheers for a peachy recipe.
10/20/2011
My husband said this is the best stroganoff he has ever had. I used basis meat instead of the cube meat (only because my kids will eat the basis meat). I also could not discover golden mushroom soup so I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beefiness broth in place of the water. The taste was wonderful and I volition exist making this version from now on.
04/22/2009
I read well-nigh all of the reviews and made modifications based on them; and hither they are (and what I did...and information technology came out absolutely delicious!): (1) add together salt, pepper, and 3 cloves minced garlic, (two) double the soup (3) use Golden Mushroom, NOT cream of mushroom! (4) reduce the cooking time to virtually v-6 hours on low, (v) use 2 oz cream cheese and a dollop sour foam (6) add together a bullion cube, (7) add together a half parcel of onion soup mix (viii) add together sautéed mushrooms nigh one/2 an hour before serving. Mine came out rather sparse, so it might aid if you coat the meat in flour before cooking it. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beef, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't truthful to the original recipe, merely I trusted the other reviews and I'1000 glad I did! v stars to the modified recipie, merely iii to this basic (and rather bland) recipie! (Special thanks to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/15/2005
I love stroganoff but was looking for a new recipe for information technology. This recipe was excellent!!! I used ii cans of soup and also added 1/2 pkg. of onion soup mix and 1 can of beef broth instead of water. The beefiness was so tender. I can't wait to make it again! Thanks Jessica!
11/24/2009
Always looking for something new to make cause the simpler information technology is the amend my husband likes information technology. We both enjoyed this meal, I had a package of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I almost forget the cream cheese and considering information technology wasn't thick at that bespeak, I added about a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the foam chesse. I similar mushrooms, he doesn't then I sauteed them and put them on my portion only. Both of us were happy! I'll be adding this to my recipes. Thank you for sharing!
09/07/2009
So Good!! Cooked overnight on low in the crock pot. I left information technology on warm until dinner time. Doubled the recipe since I simply had a 2 one/two lb roast instead of the stew meat. But, really good anyways.
ten/14/2002
This is a good, like shooting fish in a barrel recipe, although I do think that it's missing something. It needs some spices to jazz it up. I will make information technology again, just the next fourth dimension I will add oregano and maybe some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made enough for my husband and I to share for dinner with a little left over for his lunch the adjacent solar day. I used sour foam instead of cream cheese. Rather than adding the cream to the crock pot, I served it on the side so we could add as much or equally petty equally we wanted. I institute that it was merely as skilful without. I served this over egg noodles which I prefer (more hearty). My husband gave this a seven on a scale of 1-10.
06/09/2011
I followed the offset reviewer's suggestions. They were peachy. Added pepper and 3 cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and water. Do not use Cream of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking fourth dimension to about 6 hours on low and 1/2 hour on loftier. Added a "dollup" of sour cream when I added the cream cheese. Added a beef bullion cube. Added a half packet of onion soup mix. Added 8 oz package of sauteed mushrooms 1/two hr before serving. Served over egg noodles. Absolutely loved it! The beef was so tender and the sauce was tasty! I also served it with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A existent keeper! I added canned mushrooms, common salt and pepper. At the end I added the cream cheese (3 oz) first and and then added almost a 1/4 cup of sour cream. I recall the combo of the cream cheese and sour cream is perfect.
10/02/2006
Made this for the outset fourth dimension for company, and it was a hit! I used 2lbs. bottom round steak cutting into cubes, 2 cans gold mush soup, 1/2 package dry onion soup mix, and sauted 6 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured it in pot with juices, and a piddling xtra foam cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the remainder. Served over buttered noodles with a side of light-green peas, and staff of life for dipping up the succulent gravy! Tin't go incorrect with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very good, substituted beef goop for water, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour foam for cream cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/10/2010
this recipe is perfect the way it is. to anybody that feels the need to charge per unit it based on changes that they take fabricated personally, why don't yous submit your ain recipe and charge per unit this one for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, thank you, jessica! our family (of 6) all love this recipe exactly like y'all wrote it!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very good. I made but as it was written. Next time I will use sour cream instead of cream cheese and I will effort white wine in place of the water.
02/05/2014
I don't usually care for beefiness stroganoff; however, I made this last dark (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read about all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To save everyone else some time, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and information technology came out not bad): (ane) add common salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce merely proceed the foam cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Gilded Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to most 5-6 hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you lot add the cream cheese to get an actress "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms about ane/2 an 60 minutes before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, only I trusted others and I call back it helped. Great slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and then but boiled the bag to reheat. Information technology was swell the second time around!
12/28/2014
I don't think I will ever brand beefiness stroganoff with sour cream once more. This was so delicious and both me, my fiance and all-time friend said information technology was amazing! I did make a couple of adjustments but pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, 2 cans of the golden mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion powder, garlic salt, steak firm seasoning and some pepper. I didn't mensurate i/ii cup of onion; instead I only used one-half of a large yellowish onion and finally added a 3rd of a 16oz package chopped mushrooms. Right earlier I added the foam cheese I sauted the residue of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. Then added the 4oz of foam cheese. I took out a large corporeality (about half or a little more) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled information technology in a sauce pan, adding a teeny scrap of butter (less then a tbsp) and some corn starch until it thickened up a bit and poured it dorsum into the crockpot, turned off the heat and let sit for about 10 minutes to continue thickening. Served over egg noodles and was astonishing! I am making some tonight and am going to serve it with some grilled asparagus.
09/05/2014
I made this recipe every bit written in the beginning and though information technology very bland. Tried to spice it up with garlic powder, onion pulverization and pepper, nonetheless not very flavorful, although we did like it. Sorry, only I accept to give it only three stars.
09/04/2003
I agree with the previous reviewer: this dish has little gustation. The recipe is sorely lacking in seasoning and creating flavor depth. The one matter I did like was how tender the meat came out through the slow cooking process. Seasonings are actually needed, such equally salt and pepper, garlic, beef bouillon and/or broth, perhaps fifty-fifty a touch of tomato paste. I too think that browning the meat and onions (as well as mushrooms) would result in a much fuller season, so I'll exercise that side by side time. And, the foam cheese just does not piece of work in stroganoff – sour cream would much improve and authenticate this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, information technology's definitely a dish I tin can tinker with. : ) Folks - see "Daria'southward Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH ameliorate.
09/28/2010
OK this is an awesome base recipe. As I was reading the other reviews and preparing it, I did make some suggested adjustments. My family asked for this all the time. (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce only keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (iii) utilize Golden Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to near 5-6 hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add together the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a beef bullion cube, (seven) add together a half parcel of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour before serving.
07/28/2011
This was actually really good! I doubled the sauce but left the worcestershire and foam cheese the same. Had it 2 nights in a row and it was delicious.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and also added 1/2 cup red vino, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U One thousand 1000 Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my to the lowest degree favorite Stroganoff recipe that I have fabricated. I adopt regular cream of mushroom soup over the aureate mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture as the recipe as written didn't brand plenty for 4 servings.
09/30/2005
I made a double batch of this the first fourth dimension. I am expecting our offset baby, and so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I divide it and froze it in two split up foodsaver bags to make reheating in boiling water easy. Nosotros had it last nighttime. It'southward Fabled. Since I fabricated a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a parcel of onion soup mix, some garlic and 2 jars of mushrooms. I also browned the meat before flinging it in the slow cooker. I cooked it on low for eight hours. It reheats beautifully. We weren't sure about the cream cheese, but information technology actually is quite good! Attempt this one with no reservations. Volition make over and over over again (I'm going to make a lot since I accept a huge slow cooker.)

I seasoned my beefiness prior to putting in the irksome cooker with paprika, garlic powder and s&p. I also added a beef bouillon cube for extra season. Next time may add the onion soup mix to see how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms most 45 minutes earlier it was finished. Overall it was actually yummy. My only complaint is that meat was a piffling tough though (cooked 8 hours on depression).

Served this for dinner last night. My whole crew..even my picky girl loved information technology..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, so I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a package of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than h2o. I cooked on low for 4 hours. I didn't see you weren't supposed to add together the cream cheese until the end, only it still turned out not bad. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Will definitely make over again. Thanks for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe upwards, following the advice of some others. First, I coated the beef with the flour, salt, and pepper and browned information technology. I added beef broth instead of water; I eliminated the onion and used a bundle of onion soup mix instead; I also added one Tbs. of lycopersicon esculentum paste and 1 Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while information technology was cooking, but removed them when I added 2 oz. of onion and chive cream cheese and 2 oz. sour cream.

Great! Extremely like shooting fish in a barrel - there is nothing to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to run into what I was forgetting to do/add to the pot but didn't observe anything. Sometimes I call back we forget that simple brand-upwards leads to severely elementary tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a fiddling cumin to the slow cooker and then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and salt. Next fourth dimension I might throw in some potatoes into the slow cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-i repast. Note I utilize egg noodles b/c my husband prefers noodles to rice nevertheless, I remember this would be awesome over rice. Delicioso!
10/16/2009
This was Excellent!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'm starting to endeavour to eat healthier... so I prob won't brand this as well much but this will exist ane of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out peachy...As per prior proffer, I substitued beef broth for the h2o in the original recipe. I also substituted the golden mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a petty extra kicking. I browned the meat first for nearly v min., so cooked on high in crockpot for near v hours. Thanks for the recipe!

DELICIOUS & EASY TO MAKE! My adjustments: 1 i/2# Round Steak, 24 oz tin can Cream of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), i T Worcestershire Sauce, 1/2 c h2o + 1 beef bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, Southward & P + garlic table salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON LOW FOR 5 one/ii HOURS. THEN ADDED: 8 oz can Mushrooms, 1/2 brick of Cream Cheese, 4 (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Cream. COOKED Another 1/2 Hr. Served over Egg Noodles.

Made this for my family unit coming over for dinner. Had no Golden Mushroom and then just used the regular Cream of Mushroom soup and it was notwithstanding great. Everyone gobbled it downwardly. Served with bootleg broad noodles and garnished with a lilliputian sour foam and parsley. I wonder if the Aureate Mushroom soup would have made that much of a deviation.

I never use my tedious cooker considering I feel similar I'm cheating in the kitchen, haha ha. (dumb huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved it. Next I will try the slow cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i made the original recipe and wasnt crazy over it, thought it was bland, so i tweaked iti used 2 cans of condensed onion soup since i dont like mushrooms in the start place, merely i all the same added the chopped onion since i thought it added a bit of freshness to it. Also used half sour foam one-half foam cheese, to get it out of my fridge, and added some garlic, black pepper and just a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but information technology tasted nice, and since im never dwelling house its overnice to have something y'all tin can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
So good, I took everybody's suggestions and used half foam cheese half sour foam and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. and so good the hubby ate two huge bowls of it!
03/16/2014
This recipe was a hitting with my zoo crew tonight for supper!! I didn't use fresh onions I adapted the recipe for x servings which made the amount of onions 1 and 1/4 cups of onion...and I take a daughter staying at abode right now that is breastfeeding sooo I fabricated a small-scale aligning I substituted one bundle of lipton bulky onion soup mix. and just as I was adding the foam cheese I added some freshly cooked wide egg noodles poured them right in the crock pot and stirred them in dash of salt and a dash of garlic powder and the kids and adults alike loved this...from my grandbaby who is two and my dad who is 66 cheers then much!!
10/09/2006
Easy and succulent. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and will definitely make this once again. It would be good over mashed potatoes too!
03/15/2010
This is one of my favourite recipes. The husband loves it and information technology's so squeamish to come home to dinner already made when I walk in the door, but melt some egg noodles and it's on the table. I throw this together at nighttime and put the whole crock pot in the fridge and just plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I usually make it with chicken instead of beef, add mushrooms and use herb and garlic flavoured foam cheese.
04/04/2011
I've fabricated this a couple times at present and each time theirs never any leftovers! The recipe is GREAT AS IS. Don't worry if you lot don't have any golden mushroom soup because the simply divergence is the added mushrooms. So if you similar mushrooms in yours but add together some towards the finish, unless you use fresh ones, then you can put them in in the beginning. The just matter I inverse was to add garlic common salt. Nosotros dearest salty nutrient and I cook with garlic in just nigh everything! Thank you for a great like shooting fish in a barrel comfort food!
08/20/2013
This recipe as is its bland and overcooked. If you have to add 15 things to make it edible and so this recipe should never have gotten the rating it has. Save your food and brand something else.
01/16/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a can of mushrooms, common salt, pepper, garlic, crushed red pepper, and a big dollop of sour cream. Served over egg noodles. Hubby an I LOVED it! information technology was very like shooting fish in a barrel and smelled smashing cooking on a chilly winter day, i will be making this again.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once equally written and once again with modifications. As written, it'due south a adept basic recipe. With additions that I made, it's outstanding. Add together 1/two pkt onion soup mix, one/iv loving cup red wine and a good sprinkle of garlic powder. Cooked 1 lb frozen venison steaks on high for four hours. Shredded the meat and added the foam cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't stop licking the spoon :)
10/30/2011
This recipe is bully as is! The only other affair I added was pepper. You guys are nuts to add onion soup mix to this when there is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Plenty of flavor without it.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a chip plain so I added sauteed mushrooms, actress onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a trivial. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't every bit tender every bit I would take thought (cooked five hours on loftier), so next time I think I'll utilise ground beef...
03/04/2010
one word...AMAZING!! I followed JILLYBEAN14's review exactly...the only affair i will change side by side time is to not add together actress salt.
11/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a bustle and put the foam cheese in at the start fourth dimension instead of at the end. It still worked out! And thanks to the Fizz folks that assured me information technology would be fine despite my fault.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I practise add a trivial Burgundy Vino to give information technology an authentic Stroganoff flavor. I too use half cream cheese and half sour cream.
02/10/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my large, hungry family unit and there was just enough left over for my husband to take to piece of work the next day for lunch. I made a few changes based on other users comments. I added 1/4 cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the result was very flavorful. I volition definately be making this again at the request of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
10/12/2008
I rated this recipe only iii stars because this recipe had to be adapted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to run into the the five star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beef Stroganoff was 5 stars "The All-time!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Thanks over again ;-) (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the foam cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) utilise Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (four) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to nearly 5-6 hours on depression, (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you lot add the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half bundle of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms about one/ii an hr before serving.
11/27/2011
This was a wow for u.s., especially with such simple ingrediants. I e'er brand as-is the first time; I might add some water chestnuts next time around just for some texture dissimilarity. But it is delicious and unproblematic merely as-written!
11/10/2014
Nosotros liked this a lot. Took the communication of others and used golden mushroom soup and added beef flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
And then So good! My husband absolutely loved information technology, also. A huge winner that will be in regular rotation. I did use JILLYBEAN14's suggestions, withal, so I actually can't comment on the recipe on superlative. The but thing that I could think of to make this improve is to double the recipe so there are plenty of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I thought it was just okay. Looked great, smelled great...tasted okay.
12/30/2009
I made this before and idea it was banal. So this time I followed other reviewers and put everyone'southward review together and created the best stroganoff ever! I used 2 cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms 1/2 loving cup sour foam 1/two cup foam cheese i loving cup water with beef bouillon cube one tsp thyme ane tsp parsley 1 Tb garlic pulverisation 1/2 TB salt & 1 parcel dried onion soup mix. and we served it over egg noodles. We all loved it! And so cheers for the good base recipe and cheers to the other reviewers!
10/16/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was actually, really good. I will actually apply 16 oz. mushrooms (read reviews) next fourth dimension as that was my favorite part. I could swallow the sauce with just mushrooms and be content only my married man would miss the beef. Thanks for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was excellent! I have tips to cutting the time way down in making this. 1st, read Jillybean'south & momsavedbygrace'due south reveiws on what to do different with ingredients. In improver to the above changes, I did the following with mine: ane) used TENDERIZED Circular STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS SO Of import FOLKS!! You can melt stew meat until the cows come up home & information technology will rarely go really tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized round steak and uses it in stews and similar dishes; it e'er turns out fantastic. Just cube the meat yourself in 5 minutes & you lot'll shave hours off the cook time. 2)I added onion & garlic powder, salt & pepper three) Added about a TBSPN of beef granuals 4) One eight oz package of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & one TBSPN or so of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; exit a little texture and seize with teeth to them as the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. 5) Added one very generous dallop of fat gratuitous sour foam (employ Breakstones; you lot'll never miss the fatty). I have a new KitchenAid tiresome cooker which might be a trivial more efficient than nearly just I recall the meat is the central to less cook time. I cooked this for an hour & 15min on high, then ii hours on slightly higher than low. It was perfect in 3 hours, 20 minutes (probably was done sooner only I wasn't home to check it). Tossed in the mushrooms right before serving also as foam cheese and sour cream; no further cooking needed in one case that dissovles. FABULOUS!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly as written - only off-white to do it this way if I'm going to rate it. When I recall of stroganoff I think of a creamy sauce with a sour cream flavour and this recipe was not even a little bit creamy creamy simply more gravy like. The gilded mushroom soup most gives it a fleck of a bite/tartness that I didn't care for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for 8 hours on low, which I did, but this was way likewise long as the gravy like sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is not a recipe I will effort again.
04/12/2003
This is a great recipe!!!! Information technology is super easy and tastes fabulous! I would but count on two servings. . . non 4!
01/17/2012
I was excited to try this peculiarly with such loftier ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both concur that this just wasn't that skilful. Maybe it'due south considering I don't usually cook with canned cream soups. This is basically meat and soup. I will stick with my old standby recipe starting with a roux. Lamentable.
12/23/2002
Very delicious and easy to prepare. I used strips of steak and I took the advice of others and used low-fat cream of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the water. And then two hours before serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the light cream cheese to stir in before serving, and so served light sour cream on the table to be used equally desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and fabricated for a beautiful, succulent dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My husband and I really liked this recipe. I took some of the communication of others but not all... I basically doubled the meat, the golden mushroom soup, the water and worcestershire sauce. About an hour before it was done, I added a parcel of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the same (4 oz) and added 4 oz of sour cream. Information technology produced a lot of liquid then next time I may even apply 3 lbs of meat.
11/xv/2011
Delicious! I fabricated with ane lb. of beef, 2 cans of gilded mushroom soup, 2 cloves of garlic, a whole onion and almost i/2 parcel of Lipton onion soup, ane TBS. worcestershire sauce, 4 ounces of cream cheese and 1/four c. beef boullion plus a couple T. water.

Sour cream much amend than foam cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a High german-Russian family beef stroganoff has been a staple for as long every bit I can remember. I have a couple timeless recipes that are better- simply more time consuming. I volition hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty oftentimes. It came out cracking with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- thank yous JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. It saved a lot of time. The merely modify I made was to add one can of Gold Mushroom and on of Cream of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with homemade egg noodles if you have them bachelor... so much amend than shop bought!
03/05/2011
this was the all-time recipes for stroganoff my husband and I e'er had. Starting time I sub. i/iv loving cup of beef broth for the one/4 cup water then..I added some fresh mushrooms about 1 hour before cookin was finished and used sour cream instead of the cream cheese just before serving. and added i/2 tsp pepper for boot merely before calculation the sour cream I added 1 tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. It was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a picayune subsequently reading several reviews and it was Awesome! I used 1 lb of lean beefiness stew meat, 2 cans aureate mushroom soup, 1 entire can of beef broth, i small can of sliced mushrooms, 1/2 onion and one TBSN of Worcheshire. I put it in the crock pot on high for ane 60 minutes then turned information technology downwardly for 4-5 more. I stirred in 1/two C of sour foam at the stop and it was astonishing served over egg noodles. TRY It - YOU Will Beloved It!
03/17/2010
We love this and take made it several times. First time I made it I used cream cheese, second fourth dimension - a combination of foam cheese and sour cream. While the cream cheese is fine, I retrieve the tartness of the sour cream is far better. I do double the meat and quadruple the sauce considering information technology tastes so great on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
